“THE LAND IS A UNIQUE AND UNIVERSAL PROMISE THAT EXALTS THE MOST GENUINE SIMPLICITY”

In Le Marche region, on the hills following the river valleys to the Adriatic, with the Apennines behind you, at an altitude of 508 metres, incredibly close to the coast, you’ll find one of the best-known and most productive wineries of the region. La Cantina dei Colli Ripani.

A Cooperative Born from Tradition

Colli Ripani is a wine cooperative that draws its strength from over 330 local producers. It is underpinned by their profound desire to protect and enhance their wine production by safeguarding the lands that give life to the native Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Pecorino and Passerina wines. Wine is an extremely complex sector, where it is not always apparent how much work and sacrifice goes into a bottle of wine. To ensure the continual protection of this ancient tradition over time, the industry increasingly requires new forms of work organisation that focus on respect for the product and transparent customer loyalty: this is how, and why, a social winery like this came to be.

they operate as a traditional cooperative. their work is based on sharing, collaboration and profit sharing, to minimise production costs without compromising on the quality of its products.

In 1969, they joined forces to found their Cooperative Winery with the aim of giving small producers a real voice. Thanks to this decision, they can enjoy the beauty of the landscape, knowing that it is protected and cared for by the members of the Colli Ripani. This is the spirit that guides their role in the territory, as they create valuable relationships between people. They are committed to producing goods and services that are as sustainable as possible over time from an economic, environmental and social point of view.

This led Cantina dei colli ripani to become one of the few wineries in the Marche Region (and the first in the Piceno area) to gain the Equalitas certification – the only certification dedicated to sustainability of the wine supply chain.

Cantina dei colli ripani prioritises organic management and monitors its members’ practices in view of organic certification.
Biological agriculture is an agricultural production method that enhances the natural fertility of the soil, ensures healthy products, and strengthens sustainability without using synthetic fertilisers such as pesticides and chemical fertilisers.

Sustainability is not a static concept that remains the same over time, but a continuous process that involves environmental, economic and social development aspects. This gave rise to the Equalitas Standard, which we follow with great determination and commitment.

The three pillars of sustainability that guide us are: economic to generate income and work; environmental to create and maintain the quality and sustainability of natural resources; social to ensure the conditions for human well-being.

“Gaining the Equalitas certification in July 2023 was a natural progression in the journey we embarked on years ago to adopt a sustainable system that safeguards the environment and preserves our local territory as a place of culture, history and evolution. We have adopted Equalitas standard version 4.0, which is aligned with the 17 objectives set by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development approved in New York by the UN General Assembly in September 2015.– Giovanni Traini, Chairman of Cantina dei Colli Ripani.

The Winery has an innate respect for the pace of nature, for its history and for the work of the people who have served as guardians of their wine products. This stems from a business idea to reward the commitment and passion of our farming members.

As written before, its history began in 1969 but the production in 1977 – the year of its first ever vinification. It was then that the Winery’s land was made into wine for the very first time. Indeed, we’ve chosen to commemorate this exciting of year of 1977 by selling the ‘settantase77e Collection. (mettere link all collezione e fare pagina apposita).

Because of its approach to nature and respect of the land, we also decided to include the organic collection (mettere link all collezione e fare pagine apposita) made from grapes grown in a way that respects the environment and processed using renewable energy.
